Float Shoe, Float Collar

Float Shoe:

Function:

The primary function of the float shoe is to guide the casing to the bottom of the wellbore and prevent drilling fluids from entering the casing while running it in.

Backpressure Valve:

It contains a backpressure valve that prevents backflow of cement after it has been placed.

Drillability:

Float shoes are designed to be drillable, allowing for subsequent drilling operations to continue through them.

 

Float Collar:

Function:

The float collar is positioned above the float shoe, typically several joints up the casing string.

Backpressure Valve:

Similar to the float shoe, it also includes a backpressure valve to prevent backflow of cement.

Cement Plug Seat:

Float collars often provide a seat for cementing plugs, which are used to separate the cement slurry from the drilling fluid during the cementing process.

Casing stabilizer/ centralizer

Casing stabilizers and centralizers are devices used in oil and gas drilling to support and stabilize casing joints during cementing operations. They are designed to prevent the casing from collapsing or shifting during drilling, ensuring the integrity of the well. ‌

Types of Casing Stabilizers

‌Rigid Casing Stabilizer‌
This type is made of stainless steel and is fixed to the casing joint using set screws. It is commonly used for cementing operations and is certified with ISO 9001 standards. ‌

‌Bow Spring Centralizer‌
This design features a spring-loaded structure that provides flexibility and can be adjusted to fit different casing sizes. It is typically used for well cementing and is available in API 10D specifications. ‌

‌Hinged Type Stop Collar‌
This stabilizer has a hinged mechanism that allows it to expand and contract, providing better fit around the casing joint. It is often used in combination with stop rings to prevent movement during cementing. ‌
